Resize an image in three steps

  1. Choose a still image or try the sample. Check its original dimensions.
  2. Choose pixels, a percentage or a preset. Keep proportions on to avoid stretching, then select the output format.
  3. Resize, inspect the result and download it. Choose PNG or WebP when transparency matters.

Frequently asked questions

Is Image Resizer free?

Yes. Resize and download images without signup or a watermark. Process one image at a time.

How do I resize without stretching an image?

Keep proportions is enabled by default. Enter a width, a height, or both as a bounding box. The output fits within that box and the planned dimensions show the actual result. Unlock proportions only when you want the exact width and height with possible stretching.

How do percentages and presets work?

Percentage scales both dimensions from 1% to 200%. Presets provide a bounding size and use your Keep proportions setting. A square preset does not crop a rectangular image; it fits or stretches it according to that setting.

Which image formats are supported?

Upload JPG, PNG, WebP, still GIF or BMP. Original format preserves the detected JPG, PNG or WebP format; still GIF and BMP are exported as PNG. Animated images are rejected so that animation is not silently lost.

Are transparency and photo orientation preserved?

PNG and WebP outputs preserve supported transparency. JPEG places transparent areas on white. Camera orientation is applied before resizing. Outputs do not retain EXIF or GPS metadata; ordinary colour profiles are retained or converted where supported.

What are the file and dimension limits?

The maximum input file size is 100 MB. Input and output images must fit within 20,000 pixels per side and 25 megapixels in total. Very small results are at least one pixel per side.

Can enlarging an image improve its detail?

Enlarging adds pixels but cannot recover detail absent from the original. Use the preview to check quality. JPEG and WebP exports use lossy compression; file size can increase when dimensions or format change.

What happens to my uploaded image?

Resizing runs on the server. The uploaded source is removed after processing. The generated result is available temporarily for up to one hour, or you can use Delete server copy after downloading. Removing the image from the editor does not delete a generated server copy.
